Foundations of Popfly: Rapid Mashup Development (Books for Professionals by Professionals) ReviewI bought this book in June, intending to evaluate the utility of Popfly and this book for a client that is interested in mashup applications but doesn't have a lot of software expertise. This is a well-written instruction manual for users who are new to the whole concept of mashups and widgets -- basic concepts are explained and users are walked through methods for tailoring the code to fit their needs.
Unfortunately, Popfly was discontinued by Microsoft at the end of August, 2009. Mr. Griffin is a talented technical writer -- I hope he publishes more titles.Foundations of Popfly: Rapid Mashup Development (Books for Professionals by Professionals) OverviewPopfly is Microsoft's entry into the burgeoning mashup space. It is a visual, rapid development tool that anyone - designers or developers - can use without requiring any knowledge of code. This book covers everything from beginners creating their first web mashup, to advanced users creating their own ‘blocks' in Visual Studio. It allows anybody to quickly and easily create fun and useful mashup applications using data from sources such as facebook, flickr and Digg.
